Abstract
Objective: To describe the epidemiological and demographic data of the municipality of Anápolis, Goiás, concerning hepatitis B and C infection. Methods: This is a descriptive, quantitative, observational, and cross-sectional study using data provided by the Municipal Health Department of Anápolis, specifically from the Notifying Unit for viral hepatitis. Data from notification forms were analyzed regarding sex, age group, and health region of cases of hepatitis B and C in the municipality from 2019 to 2024. Results: A total of 433 cases of hepatitis B were reported, with a higher prevalence among males (n=247) and within the age group of 35-49 years (n=157). For hepatitis C, 144 cases were reported, of which 85 were male, with the highest incidence occurring in the 50-64 age group (n=50). The highest prevalence of hepatitis B cases was found in the neighborhoods of Centro (n=25) and Jundiaí (n=16), while hepatitis C cases were more prevalent in Centro (n=17) and Maracanã (n=14). Conclusion: It can be concluded that, in Anápolis, there is a higher incidence of hepatitis B compared to hepatitis C, with a predominant occurrence in males and among adults, particularly concentrated in the central region of the municipality.
