Abstract

Objective: To carry out the cross-cultural adaptation of the Nursing Authority And Autonomy Scale to the Brazilian context. Methods: Methodological study of translation and cross-cultural adaptation that followed five stages: translation, synthesis, back translation, evaluation by a committee of experts and pre-test. Content Validity Index ≥0.75 and Cohen's Kappa Coefficient >0.61 were considered adequate. Results: The translation of the Nursing Authority And Autonomy Scale was consistent and approved by a committee of experts with CVI ≥0.80 and Kappa ≥0.76. The pre-test included 60 nurses, 30 of whom were assistant nurses and 30 managers. The majority were young women, with specialization. The total pre-test scores revealed an average of 152.13 for managers and 140.83 for assistants, with 190 being the maximum possible score. Conclusion: The Nursing Authority And Autonomy Scale was considered translated and adapted to the Brazilian context. Other studies should evaluate the psychometric qualities of this instrument.
