Abstract

Objective: To report the impacts generated by delirium in adult patients, after critical surgical procedures, admitted to the ICU. Methods: An integrative review was carried out based on reading articles between 2019 and 2024 in Portuguese that answered the guiding question “what are the impacts caused by Delirium, in the recovery of surgical patients, within the Intensive Care Unit?” in the LILACS and MedLine and BVENF databases. At the end, 09 articles were selected with the descriptors and the Boolean operator “and” Delirium and Adult, Intensive therapy unit and Surgical patient, Delirium and Postoperative. Results: Composed of 9 articles that met the inclusion criteria and described the impacts of delirium on the recovery of surgical patients in the Intensive Care Unit. Final considerations: It is important to research the topic, especially by health professionals working in Intensive Care Units, to assess and identify delirium early and effectively, contributing to minimizing damage to the patient's health and their recovery.
