Abstract

Objective: Identify the barriers found in health care for deaf people. Methods: This is an integrative review of qualitative literature, with articles published between 2019 and 2024, in Portuguese and English and available free of charge in full. It was used as a guiding question: What are the barriers faced by deaf patients in health care services? The articles were searched in the following databases: LILACS, MEDLINE, PubMed and SciELO, using the descriptors: Comprehensive Health Care, Health Services and People With Hearing Impairment. The study was not submitted to the Research Ethics Committee as it used secondary data. Results: 7 articles met the inclusion criteria, which demonstrated that the main barrier found was the lack of knowledge of sign language attributed to the lack of preparation during graduation in health courses. Final considerations: The vision of care for deaf patients demonstrated the difficulties experienced due to low linguistic accessibility. Limitations regarding the sample size of the studies may have reflected the lack of coverage of the experience in global health services for this population.
