Abstract
Objective: To conduct a narrative review of specific nutritional aspects for children with chronic kidney disease that can be used in the clinical practice of nutrition professionals in a clear and objective manner. Literature review: Information related to nutritional assessment was grouped, including dietary assessment, anthropometric measurements, biochemical data, and nutritional intervention addressing aspects related to metabolic changes and macro and micronutrient recommendations for children with chronic kidney disease. Final considerations: It is known that nutritional management for children with chronic kidney disease should be specific and individualized, but there are few studies describing nutritional care for this population. Furthermore, the guidelines are not frequently updated, which is a limitation. Given this, this review is of fundamental importance to guide nutrition professionals in the process of nutritional care through its compilation of information related to nutritional assessment and nutritional intervention that can be used in clinical practice.
