Abstract
Objective: To identify the sociodemographic and hospital aspects in predicting death in patients hospitalized for stroke in Mato Grosso, as well as predictive factors, seeking to deepen the knowledge about stroke and, consequently, improve treatment practices aimed at these victims. Methods: This is an open cohort study, which involved hospitalization data from the Hospital Information System (SIH/DATASUS) according to ICD-I64, in addition to data from the Repository of Information Systems of the State Health Department of Mato Grosso (DwWeb / SES - MT). This investigation involved descriptive analysis of data from 2020 to 2022 and used the Statistical Package for Social Sciences 18.0 (SPSS) to perform the bivariate analysis of the obtained results. Results: A total of 2393 stroke victims were identified in public hospitals in Mato Grosso. Regarding the patient profile, there was a predominance of males (55.50%) and the age group of 30 to 59 years (95.74%). Regarding the death rate, a total of 8.98% of deaths from stroke was obtained; however, a utilization rate of ICU of 91.02% was also found. Conclusion: It is concluded that the utilization of the ICU is a determining factor for the survival of patients hospitalized with stroke.
