Abstract
Objective: To map the scientific evidence on the use of educational technologies in dealing with neuropsychiatric emergencies in the elderly. Methods: This is a scoping review, prepared in accordance with the recommendations of the Joanna Briggs Institute. The PRISMA checklist methodological tool was used to guide the process. Eight databases and electronic libraries were consulted. The selection of studies took place in two phases: the first consisted of screening titles and abstracts to identify potentially relevant studies; and the second consisted of reading the full texts to confirm eligibility. Results: The results were organized qualitatively through thematic content analysis and quantitatively through descriptive statistical analysis. As a result, 16,607 initial records were identified which, after removing duplicates, resulted in 8,644 unique studies. Of these, 16 studies were selected to make up the corpus of analysis. Final considerations: The analysis identified that the most widely used educational technologies included e-learning, virtual simulations and mobile applications. The potential of these tools was discussed, such as improved crisis response and ongoing educational support, and the challenges faced, such as resistance to adopting new technologies and the need for personalization for the elderly.
