Abstract
Objective: To analyze the relationship between identifying the cause of abdominal pain in the elderly and the appropriate management for satisfactory treatment, using a systematic literature review approach. Method: This is a bibliographic review study that used the PubMed electronic database. The search terms included "abdominal pain," "abdominal pain in the elderly," "management," and their combinations. A total of 12 articles were selected for detailed analysis. Results: The results revealed the complexities associated with the diagnosis and treatment of abdominal pain in the elderly. Recent studies highlight the challenges in managing these patients and the importance of addressing these gaps, as a more detailed understanding could lead to improvements in management strategies, reducing morbidity and mortality associated with various conditions. Conclusions: The importance of prompt and effective management is emphasized, as actions for elderly patients need to be more decisive and accurate to ensure better clinical outcomes.
