Abstract

Objective: To describe the characteristics of Meniere's Disease in order to understand and manage this medical condition. Literature review: Meniere's Disease is a medical condition characterized by episodes of vertigo, sensorineural hearing loss, tinnitus, and a feeling of ear fullness. It is associated with an accumulation of fluid in the inner ear. This syndrome can be debilitating due to the unpredictability of its symptoms, including sudden attacks of vertigo, nausea, and vomiting. Hearing loss tends to be progressive, and tinnitus is a common symptom. Final considerations: The diagnosis of Meniere's Disease is primarily based on the patient's clinical history and symptoms, as well as audiometric and balance tests. Management of this condition includes measures to control acute symptoms, such as medications for vertigo and dietary changes to reduce fluid retention. In more severe or refractory cases, surgical procedures such as endolymphatic sac decompression or cochlear implantation may be considered. Meniere's Syndrome is a chronic condition that requires regular medical follow-up to optimize treatment and improve the patient's quality of life. Adequate knowledge of the syndrome is essential to ensure effective care and minimize the impact of the disease on patients' lives.
