Abstract
Objective: Organize and gather the content of scientific articles that expand research on analgosedation in critically ill patients. Methods: This is an integrative review, based on the platforms PubMed, SCIELO, Lilacs, searching the descriptors "Analgesia" and "Sedation" and "Intensive Care Unit" and the Boolean operator “AND” and “OR,” with articles published from 2020 to 2024, in English, updated and with relevant information. In the total analysis, 28 articles were counted to be included as the basis of the present study. Results: Pain is a complex factor to be treated and managed in the ICU environment, as some conditions can be aggravated due to inadequate diagnosis and guidance. Delirium has been shown to be a condition associated with worse outcomes and should be avoided. Different sedoanalgesia scales and strategies are used to improve their effectiveness and safety. Final considerations: It is suggested that daily interruptions, less sedoanalgesia, and multimodal management impact length of stay and better post-discharge prognosis.
