Abstract
Objective: To highlight the importance of nursing care in the perioperative period within neurosurgery. Methods: This study adopted an integrative literature review to investigate nursing care in the perioperative period of neurosurgeries. The search was conducted in the SciELO and BVS databases. Articles published in the last 10 years were included. Six articles were selected for the study. Results: The main themes addressed were the patient profile, strategies for preventing complications, and nursing care in the pre- and postoperative periods. Nursing interventions were effective in reducing complications such as urinary infections and neurological complications, highlighting the importance of assessment scales and multidisciplinary protocols in postoperative care. Conclusion: The review revealed the critical importance of nursing care in the perioperative period of neurosurgeries. Despite advancements, there are still challenges related to the implementation of this care, especially due to resource limitations and high demand.
