Abstract
Objective: To verify the effectiveness of nanotechnology in the wound healing process in diabetic patients. Methods: Integrative review whose databases used were PubMed, Scopus and EMBASE. The guiding question used was: How effective is the use of nanotechnology in wound healing in patients with diabetes mellitus?. Results: Initially, 132 articles were selected, remaining 120 after checking for duplication; the titles and abstracts were analyzed and 72 works were excluded. Finally, 26 articles were excluded after reading the full article. Twenty-two articles were admitted for the final analysis. Final considerations: In vivo studies and clinical trials have shown that several nanotechnologies have promising potential in the treatment of wounds in patients with DM. However, further clinical studies are needed to truly evaluate the effectiveness of these technologies in order to have new alternatives for the treatment of this condition.
