Abstract

Objective: To analyze in the national and international literature what are the Nursing care in the treatment of patients with peristomal dermatitis. Methods: Integrative literature review. The search for primary studies was carried out in five databases, Medline/PubMed, Cinahl, LILACS, BDEnf, and embase in August 2024. The sample consisted of six articles. Data analysis and synthesis were performed descriptively. Results: Of the 10,031 publications identified in the databases, after applying the eligibility criteria, 35 primary studies were selected for full reading and 6 comprised the review sample that were published between 2012 and 2020. Treatment forms used for the treatment of peristomal dermatitis were found, such as the use of barrier powder, sunbathing, avoiding allergenic materials, techniques, and adequate hygiene. Final considerations: The study allowed the analysis of several possible approaches for the treatment of peristomal dermatitis. The number of studies collected for the sample revealed how little the methods of treating peristomal dermatitis are discussed, revealing the importance of more studies and research that emphasize this problem, since peristomal dermatitis is one of the most recurrent complications.
