Abstract

Objective: Analyze how unhealthy lifestyle habits affect the quality of life of young individuals as they go through the aging process. Methods: An integrative literature review wascarried out in 2024 using articles published between 1995 and 2024, available on the online platforms Virtual Health Library (VHL), Google Scholar, Latindex, National Library of Medicine (PubMed MEDLINE) and Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO). The search strategy returned38 articles, of which 16 were used. The categorical variables evaluated were: sedentary lifestyle, poor diet, healthy aging; repercussions of aging, lifestyle habits and quality of life. Results: The population increasingly has unhealthy habits, with an emphasis on a sedentary lifestyle, poor diet and the use of substances harmful to the body, such as alcohol and tobacco, increasing the possibility of pathologies arising in old age. Contrary to expectations, young people do not seem to be worried about what this will entail in the future. Preventive measures based on lifestyle changes are necessary to change this reality. Final considerations: Individuals who have healthy lifestyle habits are less likely to develop complications in old age, contributing to a better quality of life.
