Abstract
Objective: To identify the main evolutionary points regarding the treatment of neuropathic ulcers in diabetic foot in the last 5 years. Methods: This is an integrative review of a descriptive nature with articles published between 2019 and 2024, in English and Spanish, with full text available. The guiding question was used: What are the new therapeutic options for the treatment of neuropathic ulcers in lesions on the feet of people with diabetes? Articles were collected using the PubMed and Scielo databases. The descriptors were: “Neuropathic Ulcer”, “Diabetic Foot”, “Treatment”, “Medicine”, “Patient”, totaling 40 articles found. Results: The research points to strong evidence for the effectiveness of treatment with the Recombinant Epidermal Growth Factor (HRGF), making it necessary to effectively demonstrate the results in the study carried out in Brazil. As a medicine already in use, alpha lipoic acid stands out, due to its antioxidant properties. For the treatment of neuropathic pain, the use of capsaicin is effective in improving the patient's quality of life. Final considerations: It is considered that the new therapeutic presentations described in the study have contributed to the global drop in the number of amputations in recent years.
