Abstract
Objective: Objective: To investigate the determining factors of maternal near miss (NMM) in the obstetric intensive care units (ICU) of the Santa Casa de Misericórdia do Pará Foundation (FSCMPa). Methods: This is an observational, analytical, retrospective study in which the medical records of female patients in the Obstetric ICU at FSCMPa, in Belém- PA, from January to December 2022, who were diagnosed with NMM. A questionnaire was prepared that presented at least one of the NMM criteria established by the World Health Organization (WHO). The data obtained were analyzed by descriptive and analytical statistics with the aid of the BioEstat ® 5.4 software. The study was approved by the Ethics and Research Committee. Results: The sample, with aged between 19 and 25 years, was mostly mixed race (93.6%), single (83.9%) and 71% passed through the obstetric center. The conditions that favored ICU admission were pre-eclampsia (71%) followed by sepsis (22.6%). The method of delivery was cesarean section (90%). Conclusion: The identification of risk factors such as hypertensive disorders and socioeconomic disparities highlights the need for interventions aimed at groups in vulnerable situations.
