Abstract

Objective: To demonstrate the efficacy, safety and potential role of integrative therapies as a complementary treatment for psychiatric disorders, through the synthesis and critical analysis of the studies available in the scientific literature. Methods: To achieve this objective, a secondary study of the bibliographic, exploratory and descriptive type will be developed through a systematic review, performing searches in the databases of Pubmed, Google Scholar, VHL, using the descriptors "Integrative practices", "Integrative and Complementary Practices", "Psychiatric disorders''. Results: a rigorous and comprehensive analysis of the available information was carried out, providing insights into possible gaps in existing knowledge, highlighting areas that require further investigation, identifying issues related to standardization, risks and safety in the use of complementary integrative practices, contributing to a more holistic and informed understanding of these therapeutic modalities, providing an in-depth understanding of the efficacy, safety, and potential of integrative therapies as an adjunct to the treatment of psychiatric disorders. Conclusion: it is concluded that the use of PICS as a complementary practice is an effective and safe non-pharmacological therapeutic alternative for patients with psychiatric disorders, however, it demonstrates the need for more high-quality studies to reduce possible biases.
