Abstract
Objective: Analyze the practice of healthcare workers and the ethical implications within the context of a university hospital in the Brazilian Amazon. Methods: A qualitative, descriptive, and exploratory study was conducted between May 2023 and May 2024 with 13 healthcare professionals. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed using content analysis techniques. Results: Two thematic categories were identified: 1) Training/education in bioethics: the profile of healthcare workers, and 2) The relationship between bioethical knowledge and hospital practice. Although 92.3% of the interviewees mentioned bioethics during their academic training, only 69.23% participated in training on the subject in the workplace, revealing limited knowledge of the discipline. Approximately 46.15% of the interviewed professionals reported no influence of bioethical knowledge on their work. Conclusion: It is concluded that healthcare professionals face significant ethical challenges in their hospital practice, with gaps in knowledge that could negatively impact decision-making.
