Abstract

Objective: Identify and discuss the demand for temporomandibular disorder (TMD) care and referrals in Primary Health (PH). Methods: This is a descriptive, cross-sectional study, conducted between January 2020 and December 2021. Participated 21 primary health units (PHU) of Porto Alegre, of which the ICD-10 and ICPC-2 codes related to TMD were collected in the Gercon and e-SUS systems and analyzed through descriptive statistical methodology.  Results: 71 cases were recorded in 10 PHU. In teams without oral health, no record was identified. The 38 referral requests had a mean waiting time of 132 days and were concentrated in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (76.3%). Among the requesters, 5 had no records of care for the referred condition and 2 had more referrals than care. Conclusion: Gaps were observed related to information, access and resoluteness for TMD care in the Unified Health System in Porto Alegre.
