Abstract
Objective: To investigate the relationship between quadrivalent HPV vaccination (HPV4V) and Pap smear results in adolescent and women aged 9 to 45 years in the municipality of Paranavaí, Paraná, between 2022and 2024. Methods: The study was conducted at a Basic Health Unit (UBS) using secondary data analysis from E-SUS (Strategy – Unified Health System), National Immunization Program Information System (SIPNI), and Cancer Information System (SISCAN). A total of 442 Pap smears were analyzed, covering a local population from the Family Health Strategy. Results: Among the tests analyzed, 432 (97.74%) showed normal results, and 10 (2.26%) showed cytological alterations. Patients over 46 years old were included due to the significant number of altered results. A moderately negative correlation (r = -0.64) was observed between vaccine doses administration and the occurrence of cytological alterations, evidencing the effectiveness of vaccination in preventing precursor lesions of cervical cancer. Conclusion: HPV vaccination demonstrated a positive impact in preventing precursor lesions of cervical cancer. The study reinforces the importance of expanding vaccine coverage and considering broader age groups in immunization strategies.
