Abstract

Objective: To analyze, in the scientific production and through evidence, nursing care for elderly individuals with depression resulting from social isolation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: This is a narrative review of the literature, with a descriptive character and search in the MEDLINE, LILACS and SciELO databases, with a publication period from 2020 to 2024, in which 1,259 articles were identified, obtaining a final sample of 7 articles, after inclusion and exclusion criteria. The search strategy included the following Health Sciences Descriptors (DeCS): “Elderly”, “Nursing Care”, “COVID-19”, “Depression” and “Social Isolation” associated with the Boolean operator “AND”. Results: The articles were categorized. The study identified the main nursing care measures in the face of social isolation of depressed elderly individuals, such as constant assessment of mental state, preventive interventions and strengthening of the family and social support network. Final considerations: It is recommended that nurses adopt interventions in the various areas of elderly health, such as in the psychological, sociocultural and biological fields, constantly improving their knowledge about the reality of this population. It is also suggested that more qualified strategies be developed in geriatric nursing care, in addition to conducting more studies on the subject. Areas of elderly health, such as in the psychological, sociocultural and biological fields, constantly improving their knowledge about the reality of this population. It is also suggested that more qualified strategies be developed in gerontological nursing care, in addition to conducting more studies on the subject.
