Abstract

Objective: To analyze the prevalence, staging at diagnosis, and access to treatment for colon cancer in Brazil using DATASUS data from 2020 to 2024. Methods: This is a descriptive cross-sectional study based on secondary DATASUS records, analyzing variables such as sex, age, staging, therapeutic modalities, and regional distribution. Results: Between 2020 and 2024, 114,722 cases of colon cancer were diagnosed, with a predominance of females (52.33%) and a mean age of 59 years. Most diagnoses occurred at advanced stages (80.22%), and 36.13% of patients had no registered treatment. The average time between diagnosis and treatment was 51 days. The Southeast region had the highest number of hospitalizations and healthcare costs, highlighting regional disparities. Conclusion: Late diagnosis and limited access to treatment negatively impact clinical and economic outcomes, emphasizing the need for public policies focused on early screening and regional equity in colon cancer management.
