Abstract

Objective: To analyze the psychosocial aspects and their impacts on patients with American Cutaneous Leishmaniasis (ACL). Methods: This is an integrative review of scientific studies selected from the PubMed and Regional Portal of the Virtual Health Library (VHL) platforms, using the terms American Cutaneous Leishmaniasis, psychological factors, social factors, psychosocial factors and psychosocial impact as search descriptors. Complete articles published in Portuguese and English from June 2014 to June 2024 were included. Studies such as systematic reviews, case studies, case reports, editorials, dissertations and theses were excluded. Results: Five articles were selected, with their contents directly related to the psychosocial theme in ACL. Skin lesions that cause social isolation have a huge impact, especially on women. Final considerations: It is extremely important to give visibility to this theme, since it is a pathology that affects the mental health and integral well-being of affected individuals.
