Abstract

Objective: To report the case of a patient with vaginal wall myoma, a rare gynecological condition. Case Details: A 39-year-old female patient was admitted to the Gynecology and Obstetrics Emergency Room complaining of pain in the lower abdomen, radiating to the vaginal canal and anal region, associated with increased abdominal volume. The hypothesis of vaginal leiomyoma was raised based on the physical examination and imaging tests. She underwent vaginal myomectomy surgery, without complications. The diagnosis of vaginal leiomyoma was confirmed in the surgical anatomopathological examination. The patient evolved without complications and without recurrence of symptoms. Final considerations: This study revealed that leiomyomas are commonly found in the uterus and, in part, in the cervix, but in the vagina they are very rare. Although leiomyomas represent the most common benign tumors in female patients of reproductive age, their vaginal manifestation is exceptional.
