Abstract

Objective: To identify the level of knowledge and challenges faced by the multidisciplinary team in caring for obstetric cardiorespiratory arrest (OCRP) in a health service in the Amazon. Methods: This is a cross-sectional and descriptive study, with a qualitative and quantitative approach. The sample for this study was made up of 22 health professionals from the multidisciplinary teams of the Maternal Intensive Care Unit and the Obstetric Center of the institution. Results: Among the higher education professionals who were part of the sample, 40.90% were nurses, 40.90% doctors, 9.09% physiotherapists, 4.54% dentists and 4.54% speech therapists. From the analysis of the interviews, three categories emerged, namely: Knowledge of the particularities of Obstetric CPR; Challenges in clinical practice and Lack of continuous training in RCPO. Gaps in knowledge have been marked in the science of maternal resurrection. This problem reinforces the need for effective approaches to train health professionals in the management of PCRO. Conclusion: Health professionals demonstrated areas of knowledge to be strengthened when caring for PCRO. Therefore, it is appropriate to investigate factors that may impact emergency response levels and have trained human resources to provide the necessary care to reduce maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality in Brazil.
