Abstract
Objective: Analyze the functioning and application of artificial intelligence (AI) in medicine, with a specific focus on addressing sepsis, a serious condition with high mortality.Bibliographic review: The review showed that AI is a powerful tool in supporting clinical decision-making in cases of sepsis. Through the analysis of data extracted from electronic medical records, trained algorithms identify signs of septicemia early, issuing alerts that direct the medical team to faster and more effective interventions. This approach contributes to the reduction of mortality and improves clinical management. Additionally, AI aids in continuous patient monitoring and treatment personalization, facilitating risk stratification and clinical management. Final considerations: The research reinforces the importance of artificial intelligence in the qualitative advancement of medicine. However, it is highlighted that AI should act as a complementary tool, maintaining the central and indispensable role of the physician in the management of sepsis.
