Abstract
Objective: to analyze stigma and prejudice in the care of people living with HIV in primary health care, from the perspective of nurses. Methods: This is a descriptive qualitative study, carried out with primary care nurses in the city of Recife, Pernambuco-Brazil, in October 2020. To collect the data, a semi-structured interview script was used, which was processed by the R Interface software for Multidimensional Analysis of Texts and Questionnaires (IRAMUTEQ) using the Descending Hierarchical Classification technique. For the interpretative analysis, Imogene King's Theory was adopted. Results: From data analysis, the category of the impact of stigma and prejudice on care for people living with HIV identified by primary health care nurses emerged. Unfortunately, stigma and prejudice are still factors that weaken comprehensive care for people living with HIV. Final considerations: Thus, nurses become a transformative link in interpersonal relationships, and in the implementation and expansion of the process of decentralization of care.
