Abstract
Objective: To report a case of primary necrotizing fasciitis of the breast and compare it with data from the literature. Case details: A 44-year-old patient was admitted with an inflammatory/infectious breast condition and underwent abscess drainage and debridement two days after hospitalization due to disease progression. The patient was diagnosed with necrotizing fasciitis of the breast. Four days after the surgical approach, clinical worsening required a second intervention with debridement, antibiotic therapy, and dressings to resolve the condition. The patient showed clinical and laboratory improvement and was discharged after completing the medication treatment. Final considerations: Necrotizing fasciitis of the breast is a challenging diagnosis. As a potentially fatal disease with rapid and aggressive onset, it requires early identification through clinical examination, imaging, and tissue culture, along with treatment using broad-spectrum antibiotics and debridement, which is the cornerstone of therapy.
