Abstract

Objective: To analyze playful care and interaction in the hospital environment, highlighting the humanization of care in the pediatric sector as a factor that promotes the psychosocial development of children and encourages a better relationship between patients and families with health professionals and effective adherence to treatment. Methods: Study based on the production of qualitative and quantitative questionnaires, answered by the patients' guardians, the children and the professionals in the hospital bed or in the toy library. Results: Two professionals and 16 patients aged 1 year and 11 months to 12 years participated, and the length of hospital stay varied from 1 to 15 days. The professionals reported having a good professional-patient relationship and using playful measures. The guardians responded regarding the use of the toy library and the good relationship with the professionals, highlighting possible improvements. The patients mentioned how they felt in the toy library and the improvements they would like to see according to their age group. Conclusion: It is concluded that humanized care, through play, promotes better acceptance of the health-disease complex, alleviating stressors and enabling a better environment for the patient and their guardian, facilitating adherence to treatment.
