Abstract

Objective: To present a case report on the use of Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) as a complementary method to the use of corticosteroids and physical therapy for the care of a patient with Bell's palsy. Case details: This study is a case report in which the patient G.G.S.S., a 20-year-old male, attended the Laser Clinic of the Federal University of Sergipe (UFS), previously diagnosed with Bell's palsy and appropriately medicated (prednisolone, lacrimaplus and regencel). The patient was then referred for physical therapy (10 sessions) and to immediately start the following protocol with laser therapy (10 sessions, twice a week, using Laser DMC Therapy EC, 808nm, 100mW, 6J and 60sec/point). Final considerations: The use of low-power laser combined with other therapies in patients with Bell's Palsy has proven effective in completely reversing all signs and symptoms of the condition in a short space of time.
