Abstract

Objective: To conduct a narrative review on the management of VA in patients diagnosed with NAJ, exploring strategies aimed at minimizing risks and improving predictions for these patients.
Bibliographic review:
NAJ is a rare vascular tumor, often associated with high morbidity and mortality due to its anatomical location and locally destructive growth pattern. Its treatment of choice is surgery. It poses a particular challenge in cases where the tumor extends beyond the soft palate, potentially causing airway obstruction and making tracheal intubation (TI) complex. Final considerations: Although rare, managing VA in tumors that complicate access can be clinically challenging and requires specific perioperative anesthetic planning to mitigate risks and ensure airway patency for protection during surgical treatment. Despite advances in anesthetic techniques and equipment, managing complex cases with potential difficult access to the VA still demands careful attention and further research to improve management protocols and reduce morbidity and mortality associated with this rare condition.
