Abstract

Objective: To analyze the patient safety culture in the Intensive Care Unit. Methods: Descriptive study, of the integrative literature review type, whose data collection took place between November and December 2024, in the BVS, PUBMED and Google Scholar databases using the PICo strategy and the descriptors “organizational culture”, “patient safety”, “health professional” and “intensive care units”. The Boolean operators OR and AND were used. Results: The sample consisted of eight articles, which presented aspects that can be considered as strengths and weaknesses regarding patient safety culture. Among the strengths, teamwork and organizational learning can be highlighted; as for weaknesses, the absence of a non-punitive response and ineffective communication among the team are observed. Final considerations: The study highlighted the importance of research on patient safety culture, understanding that strengths and weaknesses can transform the quality of care provided; in addition, it is understood that each health establishment has a reality, making it difficult to implement a strong culture that collaborates with management, making it necessary to carry out further studies on this topic with the team.
