Abstract
Objective: To simulate pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic analyzes of quercetin, using in silico methods and report its effect in combating hyperglycemia, through a literature review. Methods: This is a mixed study, descriptive-exploratory and cross-sectional in nature. The data was collected on the Swiss ADME and Swiss Target Prediction platforms, both available online and free of charge. Pharmacokinetic analyzes were carried out in them, including interaction with cytochrome P450 enzymes and pharmacodynamic properties were evaluated, with the prediction of biological targets, respectively. The Pubmed and Google Scholar databases were used to carry out an analytical bibliographic research on the therapeutic potential of quercetin in type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (DM2). Results: Good oral bioavailability was demonstrated, complying with the parameters of the Lapinsk Rule. Demonstrated promising results regarding pharmacokinetic parameters, however it presented an inhibitory effect on CYP1A2, CYPD6 and CYP3A4 proteins. Interacted with around 100 biological targets, 33.3% of which were kinase, 6.7% lyase, 6.7% protease, 6.7% cytochrome P450, 13.3% G protein-coupled receptor, 13.3% enzyme and 20% oxidoreductase. Conclusion: The potential of quercetin for the development of new hypoglycemic drugs was concluded. However, there is a greater need for studies to evaluate its therapy and the safety of its use.
