Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of the application of Microablative Fractional Radiofrequency (MAFRF) in postmenopausal Genitourinary Syndrome (GUS) in a reference service in the state of Pará. Methods: This is a qualitative, descriptive and longitudinal study, in which ten patients with SGU participated in the women's clinic at Fundação Santa Casa de Misericórdia do Pará, where they underwent three MAFRF sessions and the application of a questionnaire before and after therapy. The study was approved by the Research Ethics Committee. Results: The therapy provided improvements in several aspects of sexual life and urinary symptoms, with a reduction in symptoms associated with genital atrophy, with a reduction in pain and difficulty with lubrication, in addition to greater sexual satisfaction and improvement in urinary symptoms, such as stress urinary incontinence and urinary urgency. Conclusion: The patients had good acceptance and good response to the proposed treatment. However, the study had limitations due to it being a recently implemented therapy at the institution and should be expanded to a larger population, therefore being considered a pilot study.
