Abstract

Objective: To correlate cardiorespiratory capacity through the 6MST and 1MWT with MIP. Methods: This quantitative, cross-sectional study included 14 participants with heart failure. The assessments took place in the ICU and cardiology ward, measuring MIP, the Sit-to-Stand Test, and the Step Test. The data were statistically analyzed using SPSS. Results: There was no correlation between MIP and the functional tests. However, a strong correlation was observed between the 6MST and 1MWT (r=0.80; p=0.001), suggesting that these tests are useful for assessing the capacity and resistance of the lower limbs in patients with heart failure. Conclusion: The present study demonstrated that cardiorespiratory capacity, assessed by the 6MST and 1MWT, did not present a significant correlation with MIP in participants with heart failure. However, a strong positive correlation between 6MST and 1min TSL was observed, indicating that these functional tests are useful for assessing cardiorespiratory capacity and lower limb endurance in the hospital environment.
