Abstract
Objective: To understand how Metabolic Syndrome is related to Psoriasis and the effects of this association on the development of both conditions. Literature review: Metabolic Syndrome and Psoriasis share several inflammatory and immunological pathways, suggesting a significant connection between the two conditions. Factors such as increased insulin resistance, obesity, chronic inflammation, and lipid alterations seem to play key roles in this association. Additionally, changes in gut microbiota influence the activation of pro-inflammatory cytokines, contributing to the development of these diseases. Therefore, it is of utmost importance to understand these mechanisms to improve clinical management and develop therapeutic strategies that address both Psoriasis and associated metabolic complications. Final considerations: Psoriasis is a complex disease resulting from genetic, immunological, and environmental factors that cause chronic inflammation. In addition to skin manifestations, it is associated with comorbidities such as metabolic syndrome. Factors like gut microbiota also influence inflammation and may offer new therapeutic approaches for more personalized treatment.
