Abstract

Objective: To identify national and international scientific production on the instruments used in the care of patients with neurological disorders. Methods: An integrative literature review was conducted in scientific databases, including EMBASE, COCHRANE, IBECS, MEDLINE, SCOPUS, CINAHL, LILACS, WOS, BDENF, CUMED, and SCIELO, using the descriptors "Nursing Care," "Validation Study," and "Neurology." The final sample comprised 16 articles. Results: Various instruments aimed at assisting neurological patients were identified. Seven (43.75%) addressed Stroke (Cerebrovascular Accident - CVA), three (18.75%) were intended for delirium, one (6.25%) was applied to patients with delirium and stroke, one (6.25%) was directed at severe traumatic brain injury (TBI), one (6.25%) for cerebral hemorrhage (hemorrhagic stroke), one (6.25%) for neurological patients with pain, one (6.25%) for post-cardiac arrest patients, and one (6.25%) for those at risk of ineffective cerebral tissue perfusion. Final considerations: The literature presents a variety of instruments for the care of neurological disorders; however, their applicability and validation still require further scientific investigation.
