Abstract

Objective: To describe biomimetic approaches in the rehabilitation of a dental element with extensive coronal destruction, using biomimetic restorative principles. Case details: A 56-year-old female patient, after clinical and radiographic evaluations of the dental element 25, revealed a history of endodontic treatment and extensive coronal destruction, presenting an unfavorable prognosis for the use of intraradicular retainers. In light of this, the rehabilitation of tooth 25 was performed using an indirect restorative technique based on biomimetic principles, combined with the application of polyethylene fiber ribbon (Ribbond) to reinforce the remaining tooth structure. Clinical follow-up over a period of 6 months presented satisfactory clinical results. Final considerations: The conservative approach in preparing the dental substrate, reinforcing the remaining tooth structure with polyethylene fiber (Ribbond), and additionally using an indirect ONLAY restoration in composite resin, was effective in restoring both the masticatory function and the aesthetics of the damaged element, contributing to clinical longevity.
