Abstract
Objective: To report two cases of Sexual Differentiation Disorders (DSD) that occurred in children from the same family. Case details: Anamnesis data, physical examination, laboratory tests, imaging exams and a multidisciplinary discussion aimed at evaluating the best conduct in relation to the sex of raising a child with genital ambiguity. Corroborating the strength of such testimonies, the report of the children attended at the service is significant: diagnosed, with ambiguous genitalia, they underwent medical-surgical intervention around the age of 6. This would have allowed him to form a positive belief about his body and identity. The doubts that arise, both for the family members and for the child himself, must be answered by a trained team. By themselves, such disparate positions imply the need to question the pro-intervention medical discourse, especially when considering institutional and important researcher criticisms. Final considerations: Although DSDs are generally considered uncommon among different pathological conditions, the information can be added to a more comprehensive body of knowledge. In this sense, the present study was not limited to indicating conclusions, but to contribute with reflections in the theoretical and practical fields and on the psychosocial side of this clinical condition.
