Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the clinical condition of patients with pelvic organ prolapse (POP) and the impact on quality of life, according to the degree of discomfort reported from the symptoms presented. Methods: This was a cross-sectional study, quantitative, descriptive and prospective study. Data collection was carried out with the validated and adapted questionnaire “Pelvic Floor Bother Questionnaire”, during the routine of the gynecological surgery outpatient clinic at the Dra Ruth Noleto Macroregional Hospital in Imperatriz-MA. The data obtained were exported to the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS), version 25, in order to obtain a statistical analysis and verify the homogeneity of this information, the Pearson Chi-Square Test was used – significance level: p <0.05. Results: The sociodemographic profile has a higher percentage of patients aged between 70 and 80 years, mixed race, income of up to 1 minimum wage, 80% from Maranhão and with education up to elementary school. Prolapse occurred in a greater number of women and 81.63% had a lot of discomfort in this regard. Valid correlations were found between the symptoms studied and between sociodemographic data and lifestyle habits. Conclusion: There is an impact of POP on quality of life, considering the degree of discomfort reported.
