Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the use of the supraclavicular flap on patients with pharyngocutaneous fistula. Methods: It is an observational, retrospective study, made by chart analysis of patients submitted to cervical reconstruction between 2016 and 2020 at the Pernambuco Cancer Hospital using supraclavicular fasciocutaneous flap, as a therapeutical approach to the pharyngocutaneous fistula, secondary to laryngectomy for cancer treatment at this site. Results: Ten patients were analyzed, 5 (50%) of each sex. The mean age was 60,4 years old. About comorbidities, the most prevalent was smoking (n = 7; 70%), followed by systemic arterial hypertension and anemia, both representing 40% of the sample. The mean flap height and width was 19,2 cm and 7,7 cm, respectively. Nine patients (90%) presented fistula resolution, two of them (22,2%) presented suture dehiscence, needing resuture, with no viability compromise. Only one patient (10%) presented necrosis, needing another flap. It was not possible to observe significative associations between personal/clinical characteristics (gender, age or comorbidities) and the flap resolution (p > 0,05). Also it was not observed relation between the flap dimensions and its resoluteness (p > 0,05). Conclusion: The supraclavicular flap is satisfactory as a strategy for pharyngocutaneous fistula synthesis.
