Abstract

Objective: To evaluate which types of diets can influence the inflammatory condition of endometriosis. Methods: Searches were conducted in the LILACS, MedLine, ScienceDirect, Scopus, and BMC databases. From this, different types of studies that analyzed the relationship between dietary intervention and the management of the inflammatory condition of endometriosis were included. Results: The final sample consisted of 20 main articles, published in English, between 2018 and 2024. In this sense, after reading the articles, the main types of diets found were grouped and separated into: diets based on carbohydrate quality, anti-inflammatory diet, alternative diets, and supplementation. Final considerations: This review allowed us to correlate the impact that dietary interventions can have on endometriosis, with the FODMAP diet, low GI, anti-inflammatory, Mediterranean, low nickel/soy, based on herbal medicines and endometriosis, presenting benefits, while supplementation with vitamins/minerals and fatty acids did not bring significant changes. Given the above, there is still a lack of data on the long-term effects of the interventions, therefore, it is not yet possible to make specific recommendations on the use of diets for women with endometriosis.
