Abstract
Objective: To understand users' perception of venous ulcers and their respective care and treatments. Methods: Exploratory and descriptive study, with a qualitative approach. 20 users of angiology services from a capital in Central Brazil participated. Data collection was carried out through interviews in June and July 2022. Minayo's theme was used for analysis. Results: The sample consisted of 20 users between 60 and 83 years old. Four categories were highlighted: patient perception regarding the diagnosis of venous ulcer; impact of the ulcer on the patient's daily life; care and treatments carried out by the patient during the period of illness; and expectations regarding care and treatment. It was identified that participants need knowledge about the disease and its care, self-care and treatments. Conclusion: Weakness in participants' knowledge about venous ulcers and their respective care and treatments was observed. Users have a high expectation of healing and cure in a short period, which does not correspond to reality, due to the complexity of these injuries and the need for rigor in diagnosis, adherence to care and treatment.
