Abstract
Objective: To describe the hematological manifestations in patients with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) hospitalized at a referral center, analyzing their clinical-epidemiological profile, laboratory findings, and outcomes. Methods: Observational, descriptive, cross-sectional, and retrospective study based on the analysis of medical records from January 2022 to August 2023. Results: Among 70 patients, 88.6% were women, with a predominant age range of 25 to 34 years (44.3%). The most commonly used medications were prednisone (98.6%) and hydroxychloroquine (97.1%). Anemia was the most prevalent hematological abnormality (91.4%), followed by lymphopenia (57.1%), thrombocytopenia (21.4%), and neutropenia (7.1%). Antinuclear antibodies were present in 94.3% of patients, followed by anti-Ro/SS-A (40%) and anti-Sm (34.3%). Antiphospholipid autoantibodies were absent in 72.9% of cases. Autoimmune hemolytic anemia was not identified. Prolonged hospitalization (>15 days) occurred in 71.4% of patients. Conclusion: The study reinforces the need for close and individualized monitoring of these patients, highlighting the importance of early identification and proper management of hematological manifestations throughout the disease course.
