Abstract

Objective: To present the creation of accessible content about common otorhinolaryngological demands, using social media to inform and empower the community to adopt preventive practices and seek medical care when necessary. Experience report: The university extension project titled "Inspirare: Breathe to Live" brought together a mentor and undergraduate students with the aim of addressing the main topics related to otorhinolaryngology. The students created and published posts on the social network Instagram about topics such as the newborn hearing screening test, mouth breathing syndrome, hoarseness, sore throat, among others, contributing to the promotion of health and improvement of quality of life through information. Final considerations: Over 12 months of the project, 16 posts were created, focusing on health education based on the prevalence observed in outpatient clinics, the main questions from patients, and the free demand of students. In total, 5,499 cumulative views were observed across all publications, indicating a good reach of the project in it’s main objective of disseminating knowledge to the population.
