Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the evidence available in the literature regarding the epidemiological scenario of human visceral leishmaniasis in the State of Pará. Methods: Integrative review carried out in the Web of Science, PubMed, VHL, and SciELO databases from 2004 to 2024, using the descriptors "visceral leishmaniasis" and "state", observing publications in Portuguese, English, and Spanish. Results: A total of 19 references were obtained, and the data were analyzed in three categories: epidemiology of Human Visceral Leishmaniasis (HVL), etiology of HVL and spatial distribution of cases in the state of Pará. A prevalence of cases was observed in children under 12 years of age, males, who have unidentified schooling and live in rural areas. The distribution of infection by the disease is heterogeneous among the municipalities of the state. Final considerations: Scientific evidence about the epidemiological scenario of HVL in Pará presents a scenario in which the disease is associated with profiles of social vulnerability in the region. Despite the unequal distribution of the disease in the state, case notifications in the municipalities occurred throughout the historical series, which highlights the need to prioritize health actions and services aimed at minimizing the risk of infection by the disease in the state
