Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the evidence available in the literature regarding the epidemiological scenario of American cutaneous leishmaniasis in the State of Pará. Methods: Integrative review carried out in the Web of Science, PubMed, BVS and SciELO databases from 2004 to 2024, using the descriptors “cutaneous leishmaniasis”, “epidemiology” and “state”, observing publications in Portuguese and English. Results: Twenty pieces of evidence were obtained, and the data were analyzed in three categories: the epidemiology of American cutaneous leishmaniasis, the etiology of cutaneous leishmaniasis by the genus Leishmania, and the spatial distribution of cases in Pará. It was possible to demonstrate the prevalence of cases in male adults, who have low levels of education and who perform activities with a higher degree of exposure to the disease. The distribution of the infection is more prevalent due to infection by L. (V.) braziliensis, and there is a heterogeneous spatial distribution among the municipalities of the state. Final considerations: Scientific evidence regarding the epidemiological scenario of cutaneous leishmaniasis in Pará describes that this disease is endemic in the region and is associated with the social vulnerability of the affected population.
