Abstract
ABSTRACT
Objective: To assess the quality of life of women with breast cancer and describe the biopsychosocial aspects of the participants, as well as the most impacted domain (functional capacity, limitation due to physical aspects, pain, general health status, vitality, social aspects, emotional aspects, mental health). Methods: Cross-sectional study with a quantitative approach. The Quality of Life questionnaire – SF-36 was used. The research was conducted in a public hospital in Campos das Vertentes, a reference in oncology in the region. The population included were women with breast cancer. Results: Although physical functioning was moderately preserved, chemotherapy negatively impacted functionality and body pain. Physical and emotional limitations significantly affected daily life and well-being, especially in patients without social or psychological support. Fatigue emerged as a major challenge, and general health perception was compromised in advanced stages of the disease. Conclusion: The impacts on the quality of life of women with cancer encompassed the biopsychosocial model, evidencing pain and social and mental health impairments. It is recommended to implement personalized psychological and social monitoring programs, in addition to longitudinal studies to improve the care and well-being of these patients.
