Abstract

Objective: To analyze the care provided by the health team to newborns with hypoglycemia, highlighting the interventions and strategies used for effective management of the condition, aiming at better clinical outcomes. Methods: This is an integrative review with articles available in the Lilacs, Medline, SciELO, and BDENF databases, in a time frame from 2020 to 2025. The following descriptors were used: “Newborn”, “Hypoglycemia”, and “Health care”, with their corresponding terms in English and Spanish. The inclusion criteria for the research were: complete articles available in full, in Portuguese, English, and Spanish. Duplicate articles, theses, and dissertations were excluded. A sample of nine studies was reached. Results: The analysis of the nine selected studies revealed that care for newborns at risk of hypoglycemia involves a combination of preventive measures and immediate evidence-based interventions. Final considerations: It was identified that the management of neonatal hypoglycemia requires a multidisciplinary, preventive and educational approach. Well-defined protocols and training, such as telesimulation, improve care and reduce complications. It is concluded that good clinical practices associated with continuing education are essential for better outcomes and quality of life of newborns.
