Approaches and materials used in parendodontic surgery on endodontically treated teeth

Abstract

Objective: To describe different approaches and materials used in endodontic surgery for teeth that failed endodontic retreatment. Methods: An integrative review wascarried out, Consulting the PubMed and SciELO databases, using MeSHandD e CS descriptors between 2019 and 2023, in English and Portuguese. Laboratory studies, clinical trials, systematic reviews and meta-analyses were included, excludinga rticles not available in full and with ambiguity in the results. Three independente valuators selected the articles based on relevance criteria. Results: Research has shown that endodontic surgery has promising results, with high success rates associated with the use of materials such as MTA or Biodentine. Advances in surgical techniques, such as the use of platelet concentrates and imagenavigation, were high lighted. However, there are gaps in the literature, such as the need for more comparative studies on thesubject. Final considerations: The review high lighted the effectiveness of surgical approaches, but high lights the need for future investigations and the basis of robust evidence for the choice of materials and techniques.
